Site-Updates: All New 2011 Info!

Here are the latest updates to shiftingsandsbellydance.org!

• The new dues have been posted on the PayDues page;
• The new 2011 Membership Application Form has been posted to the Downloads page; and
• You can now view our Lost and Found items here.

The first general membership meeting will be announced soon. Please make sure your membership is up to date so that you may vote!

Update: Membership Deadline Is Up!

The Deadline to apply for SSBD Membership as well as SSBD Renaissance Festival Performance and Encampment space has passed.

Be sure to pay your dues early in 2011!

UPDATE: Even MORE RenFest Stuff! *whew!*

First of all, sorry for the site being down for a few hours today. There was some back-end work that needed to be completed. I was my fault, and I'm a bad, bad webmaster for letting it happen.

The Board would like to thank everybody who came out the August 15th General Meeting at Sunset Library! We had a very productive meeting where many things were discussed in regards to the upcoming Renaissance Festival. Many of the below updates are in accordance to what was either covered or brought up during that meeting, so if you weren't there please get in touch with somebody who was there to get caught up!

SSBD will schedule at least one more meeting before the Renaissance Festival, and it is very important that we have as many members as possible attend!

So here you go, the lastest and greatest from shiftingsandsbellydance.org:

• Rules Companion - This is a compilation of all the State, County, and Event Obligations SSBD is expected to follow during the Renaissance Festival. It also contains all the Encampment, Camping, and Performance rules specific to SSBD. This document was originally passed out during the August 15th General Meeting and additions (the entire Encampment Section) as well as changes have been reflected in this version. It is now a requirement that when you receive your wristbands you must sign stating that you have both read and understand the obligations and rules presented in this document, so please take the time to read this thoroughly.
  
• Renfest Encampment Rules - This page has been updated to reflect the new information to be found within the Rules Companion.
  
• Links! - The links page has been re-launched with lots of goodies to assist anyone who is wishing to research what traditional speech, behavior, dress, and fabrics were during the Renaissance period. Check back to this page as it will be updated frequently!

Please remember that the SSBD rules for RenFest are there for three main reasons:

1. To ensure the safety of everybody at the event, and
2. To ensure that the people who pay to come see us at a Renaissance Festival get a somewhat Renaissance-y experience,
3. And to make sure everybody is aware of what the State, County, and Renaissance Festival expects of us.
   

Please make sure to take the time to look over the rules, failure to do so could result in you being as unhappy as this guy...

BIG Update: More 2010 Renaissance Festival Stuff!

Here are some of the highlights of the most recent updates to the SSBD website:

1. The email address for the SSBD Performance Committee is up at both the download and contact pages! Please send all your materials to that address if you can!
   
2. Renfest page expanded: Encampment Rules, SSBD Renfest History, Renfest News, and Volunteer Info!
3. Images link is fixed and actually shows images. (gasp!)

Please be sure to review these pages as Ren Fest is just around the corner!

IMPORTANT STUFF!

1. Membership Dues are due August 27th, 2010 by midnight. If you haven't already done so, please pay your dues as soon as possible.
   


2. Please take the time to read the two posts below... they are also VERY IMPORTANT!
   

UPDATE: Future Time Change for Free Classes!

Starting in September 2010, the Free Classes at the Flamingo Library's Jewelbox Theatre will have new times...

• NEW TIMES: from 5:00pm to 6:30pm

The change in the time of the classes reflects libraries across the state having to cut back hours due to budget shortfalls.

Please be aware that the August classes will continue at their normal place and time.

Site Update: Fillable Forms Now Available for SSBD Participation @ 2010 Las Vegas Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival

Two new forms have been added to the downloads page for your general use!

• The 2010 Dance Application (with rules!), and
  
• The 2010 Camping Request Form

Please feel free to download them and fill them out. Please note that these forms may be filled out electronically for everybody's ease of use, however the second page of the Camping Request form must be hand written.

Oh, and two broken links on the Pay Dues page were fixed, but nobody seemed to notice they were broken so, you know... :-)

General Meeting!

The general meeting will be held on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 , from 2 - 4 pm at the Sunrise Library theater. The library is located on the east side of town on Harris east of Nellis Blvd.

Unfortunately, due to our contract with the library, we will not be able to accept membership dues on library grounds. You can still mail in your dues or pay them online at ShiftingSandsBellyDance.org!

We have two exciting developments to announce!

1. PayPal is up and working for those of you who would like to pay your dues online. Simply go to the Pay Dues page of ShiftingSandsBellyDance.org to put in for your membership before the rates hike up to $15.00!
2. I've corrected the spelling of the library group's name to Al Wadi!

After a long and deserved rest, SSBD is starting to gear up for 2010! And what better way to get things started than to fiddle around with our website? [answer: none!]

New Things:

1. Images from the 2005 Las Veagas Renaissance Festival have been uploaded to the blog.
2. Added a link to our blog name's descriptive text so you can get back to the main paige without having to click "back" on your browser. Try it out! Just click above on "This is where you can get the latest and greatest news about Shifting Sands Belly Dance of Las Vegas, Nevada: Meetings, Events, and General Mischief." Nifty, huh?
   
3. The 2008 Renaissance Festival Photo Book has been added to the Download Page*.

[*Note: The resolution of the book is pretty low because it was a literal scan. I will post a better resolution version once I receive the original file(s).]

Yes, we have regained www.shiftingsandsbellydance.com, however it now only forwards all traffic to our new .org homepage!

Site Updates for 08-11-09

New Things:

1. The Homepage has been updated with a new "Links" section.
2. I've added a category for "Labels" on the right bar of the blog, which will enable you to search for postings by their tags.

1. To scan some SSBD books and put them on the site for download, &
